Flexible collaboration and digital signage solutions for a global leader in Internet networking.
Download ProfileAs the world leader in networking for the Internet, Cisco Systems prioritizes effective collaboration for its own global workforce. A new headquarters in Dubai also gave Cisco the opportunity to showcase the potential of networked collaboration and digital signage solutions to prospective clients.
To meet both requirements Cisco created a series of flexible collaboration spaces — five training rooms, twelve meeting rooms, two briefing centers and a digital signage installation in the lobby.
Cisco appointed Electrosonic to develop and install an audiovisual solution that would meet the requirements for meeting flexibility. Rooms are designed to be configured in different ways to accommodate different audience numbers. The audiovisual solution works in any configuration and is easy to set up and operate so that meetings proceed smoothly.
Electrosonic installed a wide range of systems including audio/video conferencing for collaboration with Cisco offices worldwide and display technology for equipment presentations, training sessions and client meetings.
In the lobby, visitors are greeted by a versatile ribbon of six seamless media displays that can display content across all six screens, show six different images or any combination of content, including TV feeds and corporate news distributed via the Cisco Digital Media Player. The lobby and two cafe areas also feature stand-alone LCD screens streaming the same corporate content.
Two meeting/briefing rooms used for equipment presentations and customer meetings feature wall-mounted Smart Board screens which are touch sensitive and show content from a laptop. A Crestron touchpanel selects and controls the laptop input being displayed on the screens or the Smart Board. Both meeting/briefing rooms are equipped with audio conferencing systems.
Five training rooms can be configured in different ways to accommodate sessions of any size. Motorized projection screens and video and audio conferencing systems can be used in independent or combined sets.
An additional twelve meeting rooms feature screens for presentations in addition to audio conferencing systems.
The training rooms can be physically configured in a host of different ways to accommodate sessions and audiences of all different sizes. This offers maximum flexibility to Cisco but posed a programming challenge for Electrosonic. The audiovisual solution needed to support the rooms being used in multiple formats.
The lobby display had to be able to display either one large image across all six screens, six different images, or any combination of the two from multiple TV and media sources.
Electrosonic overcame the room configuration challenge by specifying collaboration systems and screens that can be used independently or in combined setups. Pop-up touch screens in all rooms provide easy-to-use system control and content management.
Microphones can be plugged into the pop-up units and ceiling-mounted speakers ensure clear audio for all attendees. The lobby installation features seamless plasma screens capable of displaying TV feeds and corporate news content in any configuration.
Electrosonic’s solution gives Cisco the systems and flexibility to present different types of content and collaborate effectively with its clients and global workforce. The easy-to-use systems meet the requirement for both formal presentations and informal local or global audio or video conferencing sessions.
Collaboration is a key element in Cisco’s corporate culture, recognized as number one in Fortune’s ‘World’s Best Workplaces’ listing.
