A state-of-the-art LED video wall breathes excitement into the world’s most iconic wax museum.
Download ProfileMadame Tussauds is famous throughout the world for its life-like wax models of historical and contemporary figures. At Madame Tussauds in Orlando, one of the most popular attractions is the ‘Music Stars’ gallery where visitors can strike a pose with influential artists throughout music history.
To add to the ambiance of the gallery, a new video wall brings wax models to life with popular music videos from artists like Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga. The display engages visitors, adding a dynamic new ‘third dimension’ to the static exhibits.
Merlin Entertainment brought in Electrosonic to upgrade the existing installation with a higher-quality LED video wall. In partnership with Brightsign and Unilumin, Electrosonic engineered, installed and integrated the wall to provide a powerful focal point for the gallery.
As visitors move through the maze-like structure of Madame Tussauds, they reach the ‘Music Stars’ gallery. In contrast to the incredibly realistic, but static, silent figures throughout the museum, visitors are suddenly surprised by the sounds, sights and energy of a ‘live’ performance on the video wall.
Music videos play behind models of iconic musicians, adding a more immersive element to the figures on display creating a more lively environment in the gallery.
An existing video wall provided a focal point for this gallery, but Merlin Entertainment wanted to bring the installation up to date and make use of the latest display technologies. Electrosonic collaborated with LED manufacturers Unilumin and media player specialists Brightsign to ensure the replacement would provide the optimum visitor experience.
To display the music videos in extremely high resolution Electrosonic recommended a higher pixel pitch for the 12 x 6-foot LED wall. The Brightsign media player delivers content with full HD and 4K playback to create greater impact and a more realistic impression.
To ensure reliable operation, Electrosonic trained the Tussauds team on proper use of the new system and provides preventative maintenance service from the local Electrosonic office.
Merlin Entertainment wanted to upgrade the existing video wall with a display that would improve visitor experience and offer simpler operation. The solution required a video wall that offered higher resolution and quality, as well as a control and content delivery system that could be operated by the Tussauds team.
The video wall had to be installed quickly to minimize disruption for visitors. The attraction also required a convenient support service to eliminate the need for on-site contractors.
By collaborating with specialist technology partners, Electrosonic engineered and integrated a solution that met the requirements for impact and operability. Electrosonic increased the LED pixel pitch to optimize viewing quality and specified a media player that made it easier to upload and change content. Effective project management ensured installation was completed quickly without disruption. Electrosonic is able to provide responsive maintenance from a local base of operations.
The video wall in the ‘Music Stars’ gallery creates a real impact with visitors and provides a stunning focal point in a static space filled with life-like models of music legends.
Adding video and audio to static exhibits has created a more immersive environment in the museum and provided a powerful soundtrack to bring the legends to life. This ‘third dimension’ further enhances Madame Tussauds’ reputation as the world’s greatest wax museum.
